Garden Intelligence Kernel (Grasshopper C# STEP_01–STEP_10)
Wickerson Studios — Garden Intelligence Kernel (Grasshopper C# STEP_01–STEP_10)
Design, simulate, and price a full 50×50ft year-round garden for Kansas—inside Rhino/Grasshopper—using a clean STEP-node pipeline that feeds forward, node-to-node, with on-model annotations and export-ready outputs.
This is not “a garden drawing.” It’s a parametric garden operating system—terrain, layout, access, irrigation, planting logic, analysis heatmaps, BOM + cutlists, and final packaging—built the Wickerson Way: fast, modular, hackable C# nodes with cfg/sfg strings.
What the STEP series does (at a glance)
STEP_01 — Terrain + Hydrology Genesis
- Generates a procedural site terrain surface (noise, ridges/valleys, erosion bias)
- Creates sample intelligence points
- Extracts river/lake regions from water level logic
- Outputs: terrain surface, elevation values, hydrology curves, debug points + text tags
STEP_02 — Beds, Paths, Service Zones, Compost Pad
- Lays out raised bed rectangles with parametric row/column logic
- Builds wheelbarrow-ready circulation (wider paths + main aisles)
- Places service zones + compost pad with collision avoidance (no overlaps with beds/paths)
- Outputs: bed rects, path curves, service zones, compost footprint + on-model dimension tags
STEP_03 — Water + Irrigation Schema
- Builds trunk/mainline routing + bed laterals
- Generates emitter points by drip spacing rules
- Supports rain pads / water influence distances
- Outputs: mainlines, laterals, emitter points + system tagging
STEP_04–05 — Soil System + Planting Intelligence
- Soil depth, compost/mulch bands, amendment scaling
- Planting grids per season (spring/summer/fall spacing)
- Optional plant tagging (every Nth plant)
- Outputs: planting points, families/rotation logic, soil amendment indicators + tags
STEP_06 — Pest + Habitat Heatmap (Colored Mesh Preview)
- Creates a colored mesh heatmap for risk/benefit fields:
- edge pressure
- compost influence
- water influence
- mulch benefit
- path penalty
- Outputs: Rhino preview mesh + hotspot tags (scouting targets)
STEP_07 — Seasonal Task + Rotation Schedule
- Generates a JSON-like schedule for 2026 (frost dates, seasonal DOY anchors)
- Optional task tags in-model (non-overlapping tag placement)
- Outputs: schedule JSON + task TextDots
STEP_08 — BOM + Cut List + Irrigation Parts
- Computes materials for:
- bed boards, posts, screws, layers
- fill volumes, mulch/gravel
- tubing length, emitters, mainline waste factors
- Outputs: clean row strings for BOM/Cut/Irrigation + summary tags
STEP_09 — Export Bundle (CSV + Cost Rollup + Fence/Gate)
- Consolidates outputs into CSV strings
- Optional deer fence offset + post points + gate points
- Cost rollup report for procurement
- Outputs: CSVs, cost report, fence/gate layout points + tags
STEP_10 — Wickerson Studios Packaging Node
- Finalizes deliverables:
- Layer spec conventions
- export file naming
- README content
- master JSON bundle (cfg/sfg + schedule + rows + CSVs + costs)
- on-model “Package Legend” TextDot
- Outputs: everything needed to ship as a product or client-ready package
Why this is a Wickerson Studios product
You’re getting a complete parametric system, not a one-off definition:
- cfg + sfg strings (fast control without UI clutter)
- Each node is a clean STEP module with named outputs that feed the next
- Text tags + dimension tags are generated on-model (and spaced to avoid overlaps)
- Export-ready: DXF/OBJ + CSV + JSON bundles and a final Packaging Node
Who this is for
- Designers + architects building landscape systems
- Permaculture / homestead planners who want real layout intelligence
- Rhino/Grasshopper users who want a serious C# pipeline they can extend
- Anyone who wants to move from “garden ideas” → buildable drawings + procurement
What you’ll be able to produce
- Wheelbarrow-optimized bed + path layout
- Irrigation plan with emitter logic
- Seasonal planting density plans
- Risk/benefit heatmap meshes for scouting and habitat design
- BOM + cut lists + cost rollups for building immediately
- Export bundle ready for fabrication, print, or client delivery
